Christopher Di Cesare is a New York-based author and lecturer whose experiences as a college student back in 1985 have been the focus of several books, films, radio and television shows including the Syfy Network’s ‘School Spirits’ series, and the award-winning independent film “Please Talk with Me”.
C2D1 Haunting ranks among the most documented paranormal events in US
history, defined by full-bodied apparitions, disembodied voices, moving
objects, physical attacks, photographs and audio tapes. Over a dozen
witnesses have professed their knowledge of, or experience with, this western
New York extreme haunting that found a teenaged Di Cesare at its epicenter,
and to whom urban legend ascribed the nickname ‘The Ghost Boy of Geneseo’.
After decades of avoiding the spotlight, Di Cesare was encouraged to pen his
own account of the events: “Surviving Evidence – Memoir of an Extreme
Haunting”, Dark Moon Press (2014). Di Cesare’s appearance on Coast to Coast
AM with George Noory in June of 2014 helped propel his book to no. 5 on
Amazon’s best seller list for its genre.
Brian McKinley doesn’t really exist. He’s a constructed mortal identity used by a relatively young Vampyr in order to publish the truth about The Order. Due to the world-wide influence of The Order and its minions, these accounts must all be published as fiction. Sometimes the names and sequence of events have been changed to protect the innocent, the guilty, and to keep from getting sued.
Brian is no longer a typical Vampyr and, for this reason, lives in hiding and writes from a secret location. The real “Brian” lives a life of danger and excitement; he loves Star Trek, Game of Thrones, and gangster movies as much as he loves chicken fried steak. And he really loves chicken fried steak! He’s a reader, a role-player, and a dreamer. He’s lived many lifetimes and is eager to share as many of them as possible with his readers.
He’s the author of Ancient Blood: A Novel of the Hegemony and Drawing Dead: A Faolan O’Connor Novel which won the Author’s Talk About It 2016 Horror Novel Contest. Check out:www.brianmckinleyauthor.com for more fun and information about The Order.
Soul Search and Soul Scent are modern tales of the psychopomp, a mythical creature responsible for escorting the dead to the afterlife. These are creatures like Charon, who ferries the dead across the river Styx in Greek mythology, the Valkyries of Norse myth, and Anubis, the jackal god of the ancient Egyptians. Following Native American tradition of the Delaware Tribes, in these books, a dog seeks out and guides suffering earthbound spirits to the afterlife.
The series was inspired by a “what if?” moment when the author, a K9 handler for search and rescue, was called out to find a despondent. The story does not always end happily for these people and rescues turn into recoveries. Because search dogs play a huge role in finding both the living and the dead, the author wondered, what if a search dog could also be a therapy dog for the dead? What if a search dog was also a psychopomp, leading tormented souls who are trapped in this world to the afterlife? The “what if?” moment wouldn’t let go until the story was written.
The series has been described as Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas meets Piers Anthony’s On a Pale Horse. Readers will be taken through historic cemeteries and the ruins of old farmsteads that can only be reached by following hiking trails. In addition, pieces of true history underpin the hauntings that the characters must resolve. From pre-Revolutionary settlements to life in the early 20th century, stories from New Jersey history weave and meander through the plot of these books. The author draws on elements from actual searches to bring rich detail to the story that enhances authenticity. By anchoring the ghostly elements of the story in reality, she effectively suspends disbelief for the reader and creates a book that cannot be put down. For as long as the story lasts, the reader will live in that world.
Soul Search and Soul Scent are rapidly accruing 5 star ratings on Amazon and are demonstrating a powerful crossover appeal, engaging dog lovers, fans of the supernatural and readers who enjoy history. Soul Search has recently been endorsed by New York Times bestselling author, Susannah Charleson.
